David was born in Derby, Northern England, and comes from a long family line of marine artists. |
David is very much a man of the sea, having served in both the Royal Navy and the Royal Marines. During tours he would often entertain the troops by sketching comical figures and cartoons. Inspired by far flung destinations to which his nomadic naval career lead him, he was able to recreate inspiring, dynamically emotional images to transport art appreciators back in time.
David's love and knowledge of the sea is readily apparent in his originals, carrying a strong sense of power and dynamic nature. The subjects hark back to a wonderful, golden era of sail and yet remain contemporary and relevant. Many of his paintings have a strong narrative sense, while the style and quality is a reminder of the traditionally great marine artists of a long passed era. David Chambers Originals are widely collected and can be found in both private and corporate collections around the world. Note that all paintings are unframed. We work closely with Devon Picture Framers who give clients a 20% discount on framing. The choice of a frame is very personal, and this way you can look through hundreds of frames, select your choice and they will send it directly to you. Paintings will be sent packaged and unframed - please feel free to discuss any questions further with us over the phone number listed on the Contact page. All paintings are on a high quality poster board, and I use Artisan water based oil paint. |
